The overall Consumer Price Index (CPI) for the UAE reached 115.76 in August 2011, and with comparison with the base year (2007 =100), it decreased by 0.14% compared to its value at the end of July 2011, and increased by 0.60% compared to its value at the end of August 2010.
The findings of the CPI for August 2011 at the national level indicate decreases in the following major expenditure groups: - Housing - 0.74 %
At the same time, there were increases in other major expenditure groups: - Food and Soft Drinks + 0.49% - Textiles, Clothing and Footwear + 0.44% - Miscellaneous goods and services +0.33% - Furniture and Other Items +0.22% - Medical Care +0.09 % - Transportation +0.01% - Communications +0.01%
At the Emirate level, the CPI fluctuated considerably in the various emirates as shown below: - Abu Dhabi 1 +0.14% - Dubai 2 -0.10% - Sharjah -0.74 % - Ajman +0.26% - Umm Al-Quwain +0.33% - Ras Al-Khaimah +0.47 % - Fujairah +0.72% WAM/TF
