The Port of Fujairah is intending to put an end to the general practice of the shipowners sending their staff based outside the Emirate of Fujairah, on the board of vessels via their agents. To prevent this practice to continue further, the Port of Fujairah is requesting the shipowners to establish their existence in Fujairah (Mainland or Free Zone). The Fujairah based company shall then be able to apply and obtain gate passes and the necessary port documentation for sending its employees on the board of its vessels.

The Port of Fujairah is enforcing this decision by not renewing the offshore licenses and the gate passes issued to companies based outside the Emirate of Fujairah. The applicants are therefore, highly advised to apply for renewal of their licenses and gate passes well in advance to avoid any unnecessary delay in issuance of the new documents due to the new requirements in place.
