 The Role

As a member of the legal team, the Associate Lawyer will support the firm by working and supporting primarily the shipping department of the firm. He/She will be responsible for assisting and managing a variety of matters including shipping and trading claims, cargo disputes, demurrage disputes, COA's and disputes pertaining to Bills of Lading, Charter party, shipping and commodities insurance policies and off shore contracts. The candidate should be experienced as well in conducting arbitration proceedings with minimal supervision.

Requirements

·         Minimum 2 to 4 PQE with a leading international law firm as an associate lawyer with shipping experience.

·         Prior UAE work experience is not essential but highly beneficial.

·         Sound Knowledge in local laws and regulatory requirements is highly desirable

·         Ability to explain the merits of a case to senior management and functional heads in a clear and concise manner

·         Ability to think analytically and with a strong problem solving mindset.

·         Highly developed verbal and written English communication skills, including drafting of pleadings

·         Advocacy skills and experience of advocacy will be a distinct advantage.

·         Written and spoken fluency in Arabic is an advantage but not a strict requirement.

·         Strong negotiation skills & be willing to work in a team

·         Demonstrate a keen interest in self-development and positive growth

 The Role

As a member of the legal team, the Associate Lawyer will support the firm by working and supporting primarily on Arbitration and DIFC Courts cases either initiated by or against clients. He/She will be responsible for assisting lawyers in arbitration and DIFC Courts cases from inception to the issuance and enforcement of arbitral awards. The candidate will also be responsible for assisting in managing appeals of arbitral awards and DIFC Courts judgments. With respect to arbitration, the candidate should be experienced with arbitrations conducted under different forums including DIFC-LCIA- ICC, and taking on new and pending cases with minimal supervision.

Requirements

·         Minimum 2-4 years PQE with a leading international law firm as an associate lawyer

Legal Secretary

Arabic-speaking Legal Secretary with min. 3 years’ experience in an international law firm.
 
The Role
 
As a member of the Litigation and Administrative Team, the Legal Secretary will support our Litigation Department in administrative duties related to the cases being handled by the Litigation Lawyers and involvement in the monthly billing process.
 
Description
 
The Legal Secretary will be assisting the Litigation Department by performing administrative duties including but not limited to maintaining a highly-organized filing system, preparation of legal documents, diary management, translating documents from Arabic to English and vice versa, taking minutes of meetings etc. 
 
Requirements
 
Experience
 
The ideal candidate will have:
Minimum Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field. Master’s degree will be a distinct advantage. 
Minimum 3 years of work experience as Legal Secretary/PA in an international law firm. 
Highly developed verbal and written English communication skills. 
Written and spoken fluency in Arabic is mandatory and the ability to type Arabic is essential for this role.
Highly developed work ethic, commitment and dedication paired with a strong problem solving mindset.
Good knowledge of billing procedures.
Ability to priorities duties and manage busy agendas in a high-pressure environment.
